Seeking Protein – When It’s a Mistake

After I wrote yesterday’s email about not losing muscle on vacation, I thought more what it takes to stay lean.

Getting steps in helps, for sure.

But one tip I can give is this.

Don’t worry about protein; your total calories are what matter most when you are on vacation for 2-3 weeks.

If you force yourself to hit a specific amount of protein each day.

Like 140 grams of protein, for instance.

You will likely go way over in total calories.

A lot of vacation destinations have carb-heavy options.

In Barcelona, we typically broke our fast with croissants and a bagel with a bit of turkey.

I’m guessing maybe this was 15 grams of protein?

Definitely not the amount I get at home with my daily Collagen Protein mixed into Greek yogurt.

I typically got more for dinner…

But even then, it wasn’t a big steak a lot of the time.

I’m guessing I got 80-120 grams of protein each day.

Here’s the thing.

It’s not like muscle will waste away in a couple of weeks.

So on vacation, it’s all about the calories.

Just enjoy trying new food and relax.

Don’t worry about protein.
