Tequila is my go-to drink when getting lean.
One shot of tequila is 97 calories.
It has so much flavor, in my opinion, compared to other alcohol.
It tastes like summer.
Goes so darn well with Mexican food.
In fact, when I’m traveling in Mexico, tequila is a must.
In Mexico City, they have incredible taco carts and taco trucks all over the city.
The street tacos are simply dialed in.
So darn good!
After you eat a couple of street tacos 1-2 tequila-based drinks are the way to go.
A good tequila drink relaxes the body.
This is ideal after eating a meal.
By relaxing you let the food digest a bit.
Plus, the flavor goes perfectly with the food.
I don’t recommend tequila shots.
That is fun, maybe 1-2 times when you are 21.
I recommend either sipping on it slowly or making a low-cal margarita.
Here’s my favorite margarita recipe, the “Kino Marg.”
- 3 oz Reposado Tequila
- 2 oz Grand Marnier
- 2 tsp Agave Nectar
- 1.5 Squeezed Limes
This makes 2 margaritas.
You will definitely want a lime squeezer for this.
*You can use any brand of Reposado tequila… and if you want to make this a bit cheaper you can use Triple Sec in place of Grand Marnier.
Instructions:
Step 1: Squeeze out lime juice from 1 and 1/2 limes into a small glass.
Step 2: Fill two cups with ice and set aside.
Step 3: Fill a shaker cup halfway with ice and add lime juice, agave nectar, reposado tequila, and Grand Marnier.
Step 4: Cover and shake for 20 seconds. Strain the cocktail over the ice.
This is a f*ckn amazing margarita…
Especially if you use a quality reposado tequila.
*You can also use Cointreau in place of Grand Marnier if you have that handy.
The Kino Marg has fewer calories than a typical margarita.
Most margarita recipes include Sweet and Sour Mix which adds 150-200 unnecessary calories.
Sweet and Sour mix is also too sweet in my opinion.
It also overpowers the tequila and lime flavors.
This is so much better and only adds an additional 40 calories per drink.
