Why I Recommend Greek Yogurt

I eat Greek yogurt several times per week.

Especially when I’m home.

I prefer it over regular yogurt for a few reasons.

Let’s get into it…

Greek yogurt is also known as concentrated or strained yogurt.

It is made by eliminating the whey and other liquids from regular yogurt.

Straining the yogurt reduces its volume.

This process makes Greek yogurt more protein-dense.

So you get more protein in fewer calories compared to regular yogurt.

Here’s a table comparing the two types of yogurt.

*Greek Yogurt has almost double the protein content.

I like the taste and consistency better too.

Because most of the liquid is removed, Greek yogurt is much thicker and tangier than regular yogurt.

Most of the whey protein is removed too.

This is a good thing.

Regular yogurt is a combo of two proteins.

  • Whey protein (a fast-digesting protein)
  • Casein protein (a slow-digesting protein)

With Greek yogurt, almost all the whey is removed.

What you are left with is a slow-digesting casein protein.

This is better when you are trying to get lean because it keeps you full for a longer period of time.

It also gives you steady energy.

Whey protein is fast-digesting and tends to spike blood sugar followed by a crash.

You are more likely to get sleepy and want to take a nap.

This is bad for weight loss.

Less NEAT activity.

Also, you are more likely to binge eat after a blood sugar crash.

Because of this, I stick to Greek yogurt.

My go-to lunch that works incredibly well for getting lean is this.

Mix the collagen protein in a bowl of yogurt.

Slice a banana and sprinkle on top.

This comes out to less than 500 calories and 33 grams of protein.

What is more important…

You will stay full from this 500-calorie lunch.

Also…
