For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been going to a lot of social events.
I have been having fun.
The only issue?
The nights when I drink more than 2 drinks.
It’s not like having 3-4 drinks messes me up.
I still feel fine that night.
The problem is I don’t feel as excited about anything for the next few days after.
It’s even worse when I go beyond 4 drinks…
What I’ve found is a really big night of drinking, like 5+ drinks, can throw you off for up to a week at a time.

A heavy night of drinking can give you brain fog and kill your mood for 6-7 days.
This is a massive setback!
One of the most important things for your results in life is your energy levels and brain function.
So, one heavy night of drinking is a 7-day cost.
NOT worth it!
If you do that once per week, you are NEVER dialed in.
Because of this…
I’m convinced it’s best to stop at 2 drinks.

Honestly, anything beyond 2 drinks, you are just adding calories anyway.
And wasting money.
There really isn’t much benefit.
I’m also convinced that having drinks more than 2 times per week can slow down momentum when it comes to hitting your goals.
This is why I like to follow what I call a “2 by 2” approach.
- 2 drinks max
- 2 times per week
When I was in my early 20s, I really had this dialed in.
I’d meet a date at a bar, have 2 drinks, and that was it.
I’d loosen up just a bit or be more present and have an incredible date.

When I got home, I would be completely sober.
It was ideal.
I had really had this nailed from the age of 21-24.
This also happened to be the time of the biggest growth in my company by far.
Then I started hanging out with guys who’d do 4 drinks.
It crept up over time.
To where I have been going out 3-4 nights a week.
With more than 2 drinks, some nights 6+.
Again, when I was younger, I had this dialed in.

I didn’t go out every other night because working on business and goals was so rewarding.
About 2 nights a week was perfect.
In fact, if you go out too much, it takes away some of the fun.
It’s like having dessert every meal.
After a while, it becomes boring.
Stick to just two times per week max.
I’ve been researching dopamine and serotonin balance recently.
You want balance.
Because of this…
You need to be careful with caffeine as well.

Caffeine increases dopamine signaling in the brain, but too much caffeine leads to decreased sensitivity of dopamine receptors.
People who drink high amounts of coffee feel terrible whenever they aren’t caffeinated.
Because their dopamine receptors are shot.
Research shows the maximum amount of caffeine per day to avoid this is about 400 mg.

I typically try to keep my caffeine around 300 mg per day.
Again, caffeine is good for increasing dopamine as long as you don’t overdo it.
This is why I steered clear of pre-workouts before I created Octane.
They are jacked up with caffeine and a lot of filler ingredients.
Not worth it.
You want a balance of dopamine and serotonin.
Dopamine is the “motivation molecule,” and serotonin is tied to your mood.
Here’s how you achieve balance.
- Healthy lifestyle choices (diet, exercise, sleep)
- Stress management techniques
- Engaging in rewarding activities
- Social connections and support
- Mindfulness and meditation practices
Too much alcohol and too much caffeine totally screws this up.
For alcohol, stick to my “2 by 2” plan.
It works well.
For a pre-workout, choose Octane.

The ingredients really work well for balancing dopamine and serotonin.
- 150 mg of Caffeine stimulates dopamine release to get you motivated and energized.
- L-Theanine influences serotonin and dopamine levels by reducing stress and anxiety.
- Siberian Ginseng helps the body cope with stress, which influences neurotransmitter balance, including serotonin and dopamine levels.
After you drink Octane, you feel a “euphoric energy.”
Not only do you have energy and motivation (dopamine).
You are in a positive state of mind (serotonin).
I swear by our formula.
Right now, you can experience this for yourself.
