Getting Out of Pain -VS- Achieving Your Goals

I have an analogy I want to share.

It’s about why people fail to achieve the movie star physique.

Why so many guys basically lose the same 15-20 pounds of fat over and over again.

Lose 15-20 pounds.

Then gain 15-20 pounds.

This process repeats indefinitely.

I shared this in detail on last week’s Kino VIP call.

I figured it would be helpful for everyone who reads my newsletter.

I’ll just copy that 4-5 minute transcript from the one-hour call.

Here it is…

Getting off of “Pain Island” -Versus- Getting What You Want Out of Life

A lot people will take action when they are in pain. They will think “I don’t want to be where I’m at. This is not what I want. So I’ll make a decision on the pain. I’ll join a coaching program.”

They’ll be hyper-committed. They’ll start to make progress. They’ll get their weight down 2 pounds 5 pounds 8 pounds. They’ll get out of pain and swim halfway to Movie Star island (their ultimate goal).

Movie Star Island has all the things they want. Beautiful girlfriends and an awesome life. But they will swim halfway, because they are out of pain. So something interesting happens. They swim right back to pain island.

It’s not any more work (to get to Movie Star Island). It’s actually easier to just keep going forward than to have to lose 20 pounds, gain 20 pounds. Gain 10 pounds of muscle and lose 10 pounds of muscle. This pendulum is more work than just being dialed.

*End*

Sadly, most people spend their lives just trying to get out of pain.

They never achieve greatness.

The pain of regret, of looking back on my life and seeing that I didn’t give it my all, terrifies me.

The thing is, going halfway is just as hard as hitting your goals.

You just need to keep your foot on the gas pedal.

People close to you might make this hard.

You’ll hear things like…

  • “Take a break, you have worked hard enough.”
  • “A little dessert won’t hurt you.”
  • “You are already in such great shape; you don’t have any more fat to lose.”

Which is why you need to surround yourself with guys who are on the same mission of greatness.

This is perhaps the biggest strength of our coaching/mastermind group.
