Keep Your Sets to Under 60 Seconds

Have you ever seen the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds”?

It stars Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie.

Nicolas is kind of an eccentric guy.

And the movie title Gone in 60 Seconds can also be a reminder of how to train.

It describes something that happens in your muscles while lifting weights.

If you extend a set past 60 seconds you switch from using the powerful ATP – Creatine Phosphate system and the Lactic Acid system takes over.

We avoid most lactic acid training in my programs.

LA training does increase calories burned.

The problem is that this type of training interferes with strength gains.

Training the ATP-CP system is what lets you lift f*ckn heavy weights.

*In this video, I did a set of 5 heavy shoulder presses, and the set took about 20 seconds.

The length of a set is crucial.

The amount of time you rest in between sets is just as important.

It can take up to 5 minutes for this system to fully replenish.

This creates a long workout.

Studies have found that you get 92% recovery after just 3 minutes of rest.

This is why, in my programs, I recommend 3 minutes of rest in between sets.

There’s also a way to speed up recovery in between sets a bit.

It is by supplementing with L-Citrulline.

L-Citrulline does a few things.

  • Boosts nitric oxide
  • Clears ammonia out of muscles after an intense set
  • Speeds up ATP production

By taking it, your muscles are much more likely to be 100% recovered and ready for the next set.

It makes a difference…

It’s also a key ingredient in Kino Octane.

Research shows the effective dose is 3 to 6 grams.

A lot of pre-workout drinks don’t even contain this incredible ingredient.

Some companies just use trivial amounts…

Each serving of Kino Octane contains 6 grams (6,000mg) of L-Citrulline.

This is just one of many reasons why I believe we have the absolute best pre-workout drink on the market.

In summary:

  • Keep sets to under 60 seconds
  • Rest 3 minutes
  • Supplement with L-Citrulline (it’s in Kino Octane)

A powerful dose of L-Citrulline.

To recharge your ATP to get f*ckn strong and chiseled.
