Your Body Type – Can You Get Shredded?

To me, the ideal proportions for a guy are 6’1″, 190 pounds, and 6% body fat.

That is tall.

But not so tall that you can’t fit into cars or cool clothes.

We don’t get to choose our height.

We also don’t get to choose our body type.

I don’t care what build you have, you absolutely can get build chiseled muscle, get shredded, and be in the top 1%.

Here’s a quick rundown of the 3 main body type classifications.

  1. Ectomorph: These are the lean, long-limbed folks. They typically have a smaller bone structure, fast metabolism, and find it harder to gain weight or build muscle.
  2. Mesomorph: Mesomorphs have a medium-sized frame and a naturally athletic build. They usually find it easier to gain muscle and lose fat.
  3. Endomorph: A larger frame that is naturally curvier. They tend to have a slower metabolism and may find it a bit more challenging to shed body fat.

What is funny is every guy wishes there was something different about their physique.

I wouldn’t mind being 2″ taller.

It’s not an issue for me, but that would put me close to what I consider ideal.

I also have legs that are thicker at the top of the thighs.

I naturally have a little less muscle than I would like near the knee (VMO).

But I’m improving here.

Also, when I began lifting as a teen, shoulders were a weak point.

I had a big chest that overshadowed my delts.

But now, that is my biggest strength.

None of us start out looking amazing.

But you can get there…
