“But Greg, You Said Getting Lean Was Effortless”

One of the most common criticisms I hear these days goes something like this:

“Greg, for years you said your system was effortless. Now you’re talking about GLP-1s and Tirzepatide. Which is it?”

The funny thing is, this criticism completely misunderstands what I was actually saying.

When I first got lean, the alternatives were brutal:

  • Low-carb diets
  • Six tiny meals a day
  • Hours of cardio
  • Chicken breast and broccoli on repeat
  • Constant hunger and obsessing over food
  • White-knuckling your way through every single day

Compared to that, my approach felt revolutionary.

Three workouts per week. A short fasting window. Big satisfying meals with steak, potatoes, and even dessert. You could eat with friends and actually have a life.

*I’ve been teaching this stuff for 12+ years.

For the first time, staying lean felt easy.

In fact, compared to everything else I had tried, it felt almost effortless.

Notice the key phrase: Compared to everything else I had tried.

That’s where people get confused.

They hear the word “effortless” and assume I meant getting lean requires zero discipline.

I never said that.

If getting lean required zero discipline, I wouldn’t have spent the last decade creating hundreds of hours of content teaching people how to do it.

The reality is simple.

Getting lean requires a calorie deficit, and that’s never going to change.

At some point, your body wants to eat more calories than it needs, and if you want to get very lean, there is usually some level of resistance that must be overcome.

  • The question was never “Can we eliminate all effort?”
  • The question was “Can we dramatically reduce unnecessary suffering?”

My answer was yes.

That’s what Kinobody was built around. A system designed for sustainability, enjoyment, and freedom. That’s why hundreds of thousands of people succeeded with it.

But here’s where things get interesting.

People assume that if a better solution appears, the old solution must have been a lie. That’s not how progress works.

Think about how we access information.

There was a time when finding an answer meant going to the library. Walking through the doors, searching through the card catalog, finding the right book, flipping through pages.

And you know what? It felt incredible.

All this knowledge right at your fingertips.

Then the internet showed up.

Google and YouTube gave you instant access to virtually everything. The library suddenly felt slow and outdated.

Going online to research anything you wanted felt f*ckn effortless compared to driving to a building and hunting through shelves.

And now we have AI.

ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Gemini let you type a question and get a thoughtful, detailed answer in seconds.

*Heck, now AI agents like Hermes and OpenClaw can handle things for you before you even ask.

Suddenly, even Googling something and scrolling through ten links feels like work.

Does that mean the internet was never easy?

Of course not. It simply means a better tool appeared.

Each leap made the previous method feel harder by comparison, but in its time, each one genuinely was the easier path.

We judge the past through the lens of the present, and that’s exactly what’s happening with fat loss right now.

When I discovered intermittent fasting, flexible dieting, and a more enjoyable way of eating, it felt dramatically easier than traditional dieting.

Now we have GLP-1 medications.

*My recommendation is Tirzepatide, which we now offer through the Kino Clinic.

For many people, these medications reduce hunger and food noise in a way that was previously impossible.

You still need to train smart, eat well, and build the habits that keep you lean for life… The Kinobody system handles all of that.

What GLP-1s can do is remove the one obstacle that holds a lot of people back. The constant hunger and food noise that makes sticking to a deficit feel like a daily battle.

And if a better tool comes along that helps people do that?

Why wouldn’t you take advantage of that?
